In this pivotal role, you’ll take the commercial lead on a variety of residential and commercial projects, ensuring value, accuracy, and strategic financial control at every stage.

You’ll work closely with senior leadership, project managers, site teams, and clients. Using your expertise to drive cost-efficiency, profitability, and smooth delivery across multiple projects.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Commercial Leadership

• Lead all commercial aspects of projects from pre-construction through to final account
• Negotiate, appoint, and manage subcontractors and suppliers
• Oversee subcontractor packages, ensuring contract compliance and performance
• Prepare, review, and submit monthly valuations, variations, and final accounts
• Produce detailed monthly cost reports and forecasts aligned with project budgets
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities across multiple projects

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the key commercial point of contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders
• Build strong working relationships with Contracts Managers, Site Teams, and Procurement
• Support strategic business goals through commercial insight and performance tracking
• Represent the company professionally in meetings with clients, partners, and regulatory bodies

Process Improvement & Mentorship

• Lead and support process improvements in commercial and cost management procedures
• Mentor junior members of the QS team, supporting their development and progression
• Stay up to date with contract legislation, industry standards, and best practices

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related construction field
• 7+ years of post-graduate experience, ideally with a mix of residential and commercial projects
• Extensive experience with contract management; JCT, NEC, PWC frameworks preferred
• Proficient in estimating, cost reporting, and variation pricing
• Strong IT skills, including QS-related software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Full, valid UK driving licence
