Job Title: Site Agent – Highway & Cycleway Improvements
Location: Somerset (Taunton office base, primarily site-based)
Salary: £58,000 – £64,000 (DOE) + Car or Car Allowance
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
We are looking for a disciplined and organised Site Agent to oversee highway and cycleway improvement projects, including traffic signals, junction upgrades and active travel schemes. This is a hands-on role for someone with strong construction experience, a focus on planning and organisation and the ability to deliver projects safely, on time and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage construction sites to deliver projects to programme, budget, and quality standards
- Lead teams of up to 10 direct reports, promoting development and safety culture
- Plan works in advance, preparing safety and quality documents proactively
- Monitor and control project costs, identify and capture change/additional works
- Ensure compliance with NEC contract conditions, CDM regulations, programme and risk management requirements
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental performance
- Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Promote an energetic, innovative, and sustainable approach to project delivery
Ideal Candidate
- Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification/experience
- NVQ Level 6 or above in construction-related discipline
- SMSTS qualified; CPCS Appointed Person desirable
- Proven experience managing highway construction/improvement projects
- Excellent planning, organisation, and time management skills
- Knowledge of NEC contracts, ICE contracts, design management, cost control, and testing regimes
- Temporary Works Coordinator desirable
- Confident IT skills including MS Project and Excel
- Full UK driving licence
