Leggwork are working with an established contractor backed by strong frameworks who are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to support delivery on the Gen5 Framework with West Sussex County Council.
Due to immediate project starts, they are seeking a QS to take ownership of a £2.6m roundabout scheme on the A29 in Barnham, involving drainage, surfacing and associated civils works.
This is a hands-on, site-based role where you will take responsibility for the commercial management of the scheme from day one, working closely with a Senior Quantity Surveyor for support while maintaining autonomy over your own project.
Responsibilities
- Prepare applications for payment, forecasts, CVRs and cost plans to ensure accurate visibility of project performance
- Administer NEC contracts including change control, compensation events and contractual compliance
- Lead subcontractor procurement, management and payments, building strong supply chain relationships
- Monitor progress on site and attend project meetings to ensure commercial actions support delivery
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities to maximise project profitability
- Act as a trusted point of contact for the client, maintaining strong working relationships
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within civil engineering or highways projects
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (essential)
- Experience managing cost control, forecasting and reporting on live projects
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners
- Proactive, organised and commercially aware approach
- Background with a Tier 2 or Tier 3 contractor is desirable
- Willingness to be visible on site and regularly attend the Winchester office (minimum 3 days per week)
