About the role

We are recruiting an SFS Designer for a national manufacturer of SFS and light gauge steel frame systems, part of a global building products group, at its Birmingham head office. The work is mainly designing SFS packages, with scope to work across load-bearing light steel frame projects and develop towards a senior designer role.

What you’ll be doing

• Produce and issue GA drawings and 3D models, ideally in Tekla
• Deliver SFS design packages to site on time and in full
• Give technical support to architects, engineers, main contractors and installers
• Attend design team meetings and speak confidently on technical issues
• Raise variations and keep project records up to date
• Build your knowledge of light steel frame and offsite construction

What we’re looking for

• Experience designing SFS or light gauge steel framing, or a related technical background such as hot rolled steel, architectural metalwork, facades, cladding or timber frame
• Tekla Structures preferred. Revit or AutoCAD considered
• An understanding of building physics and how frame systems are assembled
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn new systems and software
• Right to work in the UK

Nice to have:

• Experience with an SFS or light steel frame manufacturer
• An HNC, diploma or architectural technician background
