Location: Barnham / Winchester (site-based, minimum 3 days/week)

Leggwork are working with an established contractor, backed by strong frameworks, to recruit a Quantity Surveyor supporting delivery on the Gen5 Framework with West Sussex County Council.
Due to immediate project starts, we’re seeking a QS to take ownership of a £2.6m scheme, covering drainage, surfacing and associated civils works.
This is a hands-on, site-based role. You’ll take commercial responsibility for the scheme from day one, working alongside a Senior Quantity Surveyor for support while retaining autonomy over your own project.
Responsibilities
- Prepare applications for payment, forecasts, CVRs and cost plans to give accurate visibility of project performance
- Administer NEC contracts, including change control, compensation events and contractual compliance
- Lead subcontractor procurement, management and payments, building strong supply chain relationships
- Monitor site progress and attend project meetings to ensure commercial actions support delivery
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities to maximise project profitability
- Act as a trusted client contact, maintaining strong working relationships
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering or highways
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (essential)
- Experience with cost control, forecasting and reporting on live projects
- Strong relationship-building skills with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners
- A proactive, organised, commercially aware approach
- Tier 2 or Tier 3 contractor background desirable
- Willingness to be site-visible and attend the Winchester office at least 3 days per week
