Assistant Technical Survey Manager
Salary: £35,000+ (DOE) + Company Vehicle + Benefits
Location: Lancashire (Office-Based with Occasional Site Visits)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Leggwork is working with a well-established and highly respected surveying specialist delivering Topographical, Utility, Measured Building, Laser Scanning and BIM services across the UK. As part of their continued growth, they’re looking to appoint an experienced Surveyor / Technical Survey Lead to become the second technical authority within the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Surveyor looking to step away from full-time site work and into a more strategic, office-based role, focused on technical excellence, quality assurance and mentoring the next generation of surveyors
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and quality assure Topographical, Utility and Measured Building survey deliverables prior to issue
- Support the Survey Manager in maintaining and improving company-wide technical standards and procedures
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Surveyors, Senior Surveyors and CAD Technicians
- Assist with survey planning, methodology selection and technical problem-solving on complex projects
- Support tender submissions and provide technical input during quotation stages
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, efficiency, consistency and overall project quality
- Assist with implementing new surveying technology, software and best practice across the business
- Carry out occasional site visits for technical reviews, quality inspections and project support
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to ensure survey deliverables consistently exceed client expectations
Requirements:
- Proven experience delivering Topographical, Utility and/or Measured Building Surveys
- Strong understanding of survey control, processing and quality assurance
- Proficient in AutoCAD, N4CE and survey processing software
- Excellent attention to detail with a passion for producing high-quality survey deliverables
- Previous experience mentoring or providing technical support to other surveyors desirable
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to challenge, review and improve technical outputs
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of efficient project delivery
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable:
- Experience with Laser Scanning, UAV Surveys, Mobile Mapping or BIM workflows
- Knowledge of PAS128 Utility Surveys and Point Cloud processing
- Previous experience contributing to technical standards, QA procedures or workflow improvements
- Ambition to progress into Technical Survey Management
