Job Title: Highways Quantity Surveyor
Location: South West (Somerset / Wiltshire) – hybrid with monthly Sheffield HQ travel
Industry: Highways / National Highways Framework (NEC)
Salary Package: £50,000 – £55,000 (DOE) + £500/month Car Allowance + Benefits
 
Overview:
Leggwork is working with a leading infrastructure and technology contractor delivering critical communications and integrated systems across the UK strategic road network.
 
This Quantity Surveyor role sits within an established, high-performing commercial team and offers immediate involvement on a National Highways SDF framework. The business works directly with major Tier 1 and Principal Contractors including Colas, Amey, Ringway and Costain, delivering complex, high-value highways programmes under NEC contracts.
 
This is a commercially focused role for someone confident operating within NEC Option C & E environments, taking ownership of cost control, forecasting, and payment processes across live frameworks.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Manage Applications for Payment preparation and substantiation under NEC Option C & E
• Produce and maintain Cost Value Reconciliations and internal cost reporting
• Lead external forecasting and commercial reporting across live highways schemes
• Review and challenge disallowed costs with full supporting justification
• Support target cost contract management alongside Contracts Managers
• Conduct detailed cost analysis to support commercial decision-making
• Manage subcontractor accounts including valuations, variations, and payments
• Ensure robust commercial control across National Highways SDF framework works
• Provide ongoing commercial input across multiple concurrent projects

Requirements:

• BSc (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
• Minimum 5+ years UK contractor-side QS experience
• Strong NEC Option C & E contract experience (essential)
• Proven highways / civil engineering infrastructure background
• Experience working within Tier 1 / Principal Contractor environments desirable
• Strong commercial awareness across cost control, forecasting, and reporting
• Full UK driving licence (essential)
• Based in or willing to travel across Somerset / Wiltshire with monthly Sheffield HQ visits
